Welcome to Streams, a 6-week Lent course hosted by Churches Together Croxley Green. Starting on 6th March and running through to Easter, we invite you to join us in a journey of deepening our connection with God and exploring the diverse streams of spirituality that help shape our faith and character.
Based on Richard Foster's Streams of Spirituality book, this course will guide us through six distinct spiritual traditions, each offering valuable insights and practices for growing in Christlikeness. Each week, we’ll explore one of the following streams:
  • A Prayer-Filled Life: The Contemplative Tradition
  • A Virtuous Life: The Holiness Tradition
  • A Spirit-Empowered Life: The Charismatic Tradition
  • A Compassionate Life: The Social Justice Tradition
  • A Word-Centered Life: The Evangelical Tradition
  • A Sacramental Life: The Incarnational Tradition
The course will be held weekly on Thursdays, with both afternoon (2 pm) and evening (7:30 pm) sessions, making it accessible for everyone. Each session will provide an opportunity to learn, practice, and engage with others in their spiritual journey, as we grow together in understanding and experience.
We are thrilled to be joining forces with five local churches in Croxley Green for this joint initiative, and we hope you’ll be part of it! Please find the attached leaflet with all the themes, dates, and times. You will also find on this page a short introduction video for each week.
Come, discover the rich and diverse ways to experience God’s presence, and take part in this transformative season of Lent.

Introduction video for Streams

Thursday 6th March - A Prayer Filled Life - All Saints' Church 2pm & 7.30pm

On the first week we will look at A prayer filled life - the contemplative tradition.
We know that Jesus practised silence, how do we practise this today?

Thursday 13th March - A Virtuous Life - Croxley Green Methodist Church 2pm & 7.30pm

On the second week we will look at  A virtuous life - the holiness tradition.
Holiness often sounds unappealing, but Jesus was holy and people wanted to be around him all the time. What can we discover from Jesus about holiness today?

20th March - A Spirit Empowered Life - Croxley Green Baptist Church - 2pm & 7.30pm

On the third week we will look at A Spirit Empowered Life - the charismatic tradition.
Jesus was filled with the Spirit. How and why do we need to be filled with the Spirit today?

27th March - A Compassionate Life - Croxley Green Baptist Church - 2pm & 7.30pm

On the fourth week we will look at A Compassionate Life - the social justice tradition.
What can we learn from Jesus about the practice of social justice?

3rd April - A Word-Centered Life - St Oswald's Church 2pm & Croxley Green Baptist Church 7.30pm

This week the sessions will be held in two different venues.
On the fifth week we look at A Word-Centered Life - the evangelical tradition.
The message of Jesus is good news for everyone, how can we share this with others today?

10th April - A Sacramental Life - St Bede's Church 2pm & 7.30pm

We will conclude our sessions by looking at A Sacramental life - the incarnational tradition.
Removing the gap between secular and sacred, what can we discover about the incarnational tradition today?
