Psalms 143:8 Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. |

Mark 1:2-4 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY; THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, ‘MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.’” John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. |

Psalm 9:1 I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you. For you have upheld my right and my cause; you have sat on your throne, judging righteously. |

Proverbs 6: 16-19 There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. |

Dear God Help us to know that we are loved. Help us to see that we are precious to you. We pray for those who feel unloved or alone and isolated today. We pray that your Spirit will rest with them. We also pray that we will share your love with all those we encounter - at the correct social distance. And that our current isolation and distancing will increase and not diminish our love for one another. Amen |

Dear God We pray for all God’s people in this time of uncertainty and concern. That our eternal hope would make an earthly difference. We pray for a sense of calm and clarity as well as strength to face what is ahead. That Christians will be 'Beacons of Hope' and 'Carriers of the Message of Peace' at this time. Amen |
